The company credits its momentum to strong demand for marine and renewable engineering services, major contract wins, and strategic investments
MJR Power and Automation has recorded back-to-back years of impressive growth, with turnover rising 55% in the last financial year, following a 60% increase the year prior. The company credits this momentum to strong demand for its marine and renewable energy engineering services, major contract wins, and a strategic investment in new facilities and innovation.
Operating for over 20 years, MJR Power and Automation delivers end-to-end marine, offshore, and energy projects from its headquarters in Teesside. The company’s services span design, engineering, construction, installation, commissioning and ongoing support, all delivered globally.
Managing Director Paul Cairns, who has been steering the company since 2014, attributes the surge in contract wins to increasing demand for UK-based marine electrical engineering and automation, as well as MJR Power& Automation’s track record of delivering safe, efficient and reliable services to the marine, offshore and renewable sectors.
“These figures reflect not only strong operational performance but also our growing reputation across the industry”, said Paul.
“Much of our growth has been driven by repeat business and referrals, a testament to our team’s unwavering commitment to quality, safety, and client satisfaction.”
Late in 2024, MJR Power & Automation completed a major expansion with the addition of a new warehouse and production facility, more than doubling the company’s operational footprint. This investment has significantly boosted production capacity and enabled the delivery of larger and more complex scopes of work.
Alongside physical expansion, the company continues to bolster its intellectual property portfolio, doubling its annual investment in patent protection. This supports the company’s thriving in-house design team, which brings over 100 years of combined experience for the development of new products and solutions.
In recent years, the business has successfully transitioned into renewable energy sectors with bespoke engineering solutions for wave, tidal and wind solutions.
“In the marine sector especially, ship owners and operators are increasingly recognising the value in both prolonging the lifespan of its assets and the need to improve efficiency for reduction in emissions both at sea and in port. As such, we are seeing an increasing demand for our upgrade and retrofitting services and solutions for decarbonisation of new and existing vessels.
With an eye to the future, Paul concluded:
“The opportunities in offshore wind and marine decarbonisation are growing rapidly. With our expanded capacity, world-class team, and unmatched expertise, we’re well-positioned to lead the next phase of innovation across the industry—locally, nationally, and globally.”
